Qedma and Tira-El Heroes of the Year 2021

Tirel Cohen is undoubtedly the pioneer of Zionism and modern settlement. In 2014, she initiated “Kedma” with the goal of strengthening communities threatened by security or located near the fence – by settling young people in them. They revitalize entire areas, creating a meeting between a young generation that wants to help and a rural area that gives you a platform to grow. "I'm draining the swamps of Generation Z"

“Settlement, pioneering, patriotism, are eternal concepts, it turns out. And I, with my narrow 18-year-old shoulders, suddenly realized that I too now have to carry this stretcher on my shoulders.” Hadas Kraus, a member of the Beit Arava commune of “Kedma – Young Settlement,” in a personal column telling about choosing a year of service and its benefits.

More and more young people are moving to live in border communities and establishing student communities there, injecting the older population with a youthful spirit imbued with ideology.

We know exactly what goes through your mind when you hear the word “student life”: pressure, congestion, an endless race after school and work to finance the apartment or dormitory (which you can’t even afford) and the annual tuition, which can sometimes reach really high and challenging amounts.
